The Village
In the South West of the Island Sao Miguel, approx. 17 miles from the capital Ponta Delgada, you find the little village of Ginetes. This is where you will be staying. Church, cafe, post office, fire brigade and a small shop shape the character of this nice community. Everything is within 5 minutes’ walk.
In the village there is a road leading down to the \“Ferraria\”. Around low tide you can bathe there in a natural rock pool with a hot spring.
There are several lovely walks starting directly from Ginetes. The lighthouse nearby is one of the most beautiful of its kind and you can reach it in 15 minutes on foot. A visit can be arranged.

The Suburbs
One of the most beautiful spots on the Azores is only 10 minutes drive from Ginetes: the famous caldera of Sete Cidades.
Mosteiros, one of the most attractive villages on the island, is also worth a visit. A black sandy beach invites you to go for a swim.
